Omakase

Omakase by Icerock reveals itself through a Japanese lens for the second year of the Kibo Competition. The theme of Mythology can be very elementary when simply re-envisioning a story, however Omakase elaborates on the fundamentals of Shintoism in an aesthetically unique way. A two-faced build shows prominent cultural symbolism in the front, a gluttonous “Omakase” made to lure in unsuspecting mortals into Yomi (Land of Darkness in Japanese Mythology). The build beautifully completes it’s full story through the carved depictions in the back, a metaphor of Izanagi and Inazami sealing the gate to the underworld.
